How to work with Mentoring Young Adults and get the most benefits for you and your child

How Sessions Work:

Sessions take place on the same day and time each week.

Families typically choose either once-weekly or twice-weekly mentoring.

Consistency matters. When sessions happen at a predictable time each week,
the mentoring relationship gains momentum and the work begins to deepen.

If a scheduling change is needed, sessions may be rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice.

Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice are charged.

What You Can Expect in the First Month

After your child’s first session, your mentor will email you to share initial impressions and general goals discussed.

During the third week of mentoring we hold what we call the 3rd / 6th Session Ceremony.

• For once-weekly mentoring this occurs at session three.

• For twice-weekly mentoring this occurs at session six.

Following that milestone session you will receive an email update from the mentor.

After that point, updates are shared periodically whenever meaningful developments arise.

Parent Communication

Parents are always welcome to send brief updates to their child’s mentor when something important is happening at home, school, or work.

To keep communication manageable for everyone, we ask that these emails:

• Be no more than two short paragraphs

• Be sent no more than once per week

There is no charge for these messages.

They help mentors stay aware of situations that may be helpful to understand during sessions.

If a situation or concern comes up that needs more explanation, you can book 30 minutes of parent-time using the link in your mentors signature. We can use that time minute by minute for reading, notating and responding to more detailed emails.

How Your Monthly Subscription Works

Mentoring continues month-to-month through an automatic monthly subscription.

You are only responsible for the current month of sessions.

Many families stay with mentoring for a meaningful period of time as progress builds. Others simply use the first month to see how the relationship develops. Both approaches are perfectly fine.

If at any point you wish to make a change or conclude services, we simply ask for one week’s notice prior to your next billing date.

Any sessions already paid for during the current month remain available to you.

Tip:

Your billing date stays the same each month. Many parents place it in their calendar with a reminder one week in advance.

Zoom Calls with Your Child's Mentor

arents are always welcome to book 30-minute Parent-Time sessions with their child’s mentor.

These optional Zoom conversations give you an opportunity to discuss situations at home, school, or work that may be helpful for the mentor to understand.

Many parents find that scheduling a parent conversation every month or two helps keep communication open and allows us to support your child in the most effective way.

Parent-Time sessions are a paid feature and can be booked through the “Book Parent Time” link in your mentor’s signature.
