Ken Rabow, Master Level Mentor and life coach for young adults

“After over twenty years, I know one thing with certainty: the young adult who cannot get out of bed, who loses every job, who cannot finish a semester, is not willful or entitled. They are stuck. There is a pattern running quietly in the background generating all of that behavior. Once we name it, everything changes.”

Ken works with young adults facing failure to launch, severe anxiety, mental health issues, high-functioning autism and Asperger’s, addiction, and the particular despair of having no idea what they are made for.

Most have already been through therapy. What they had not had was someone who got them out of bed, do things for themselves and others, helped them take their first steady steps to a new and better life, and stayed with them until this new version of them was ingrained in all aspects of their lives.

Ken Rabow did not set out to become a mentor. He set out to be a musician to study, play and teach Jazz drums, classical percussion and eventually arranging and composing for young musicians.

What Ken discovered during those years, without fully realizing it at the time, was that teaching music was never really about music. It was about meeting a young person exactly where they were and drawing out what was already inside them.

Then in 2007, a life-altering car accident closed that chapter. Ken turned his full attention to what he had always done best. Mentoring young adults. He has not stopped since.

Over twenty years later, Ken has built an original mentoring method for young adults unlike anything else available. He gives a name and a voice to what is happening, not the diagnosis but the specific pattern running quietly in the background. He creates the structures for organizing and maintaining all aspects of a young adults life until they are strong enough to do so themselves. He works across the whole person at once, organization, communication, school, career, real world friends, budgeting, family dynamics, because these are not separate challenges. And he does all of this starting at the specific window of time when a young adult is lost and maybe given up hope yet sill hopeful there is someone out there who will see them and guide them. That work with the complete person is one no other profession has properly embraced.

Ken works with young adults facing failure to launch, severe anxiety, depression, high-functioning autism and Asperger’s, addiction, bipolar disorder, and the particular despair of having no idea what they are made for. Most of them had already been through therapy. What they had not had was someone got them out of bed, doing things for themselves and others, helped them take their first steady steps to a new and better life, and stayed with them until this new version of them was ingrained in all aspects of their lives.

Ken Rabow did not set out to become a mentor. He set out to be a musician.

For over twenty years he was exactly that, a professional drummer, composer, arranger, and music teacher. He studied with Jazz masters, trained in voice and conducting, and taught music in schools. What he discovered during those years, without fully realizing it at the time, was that teaching music was never really about music. It was about meeting a young person exactly where they were and drawing out what was already inside them.

Then in 2007, a life-altering car accident closed that chapter. Ken turned his full attention to what he had always done best. He has not stopped since.

Over twenty years later, Ken has built an original method unlike anything else available. He names what is happening, not the diagnosis but the specific pattern running quietly in the background. He holds the evidence of their progress until they are strong enough to hold it themselves. He works across the whole person at once, body, structure, relationships, direction, because these are not separate problems. And he does all of this during the specific window when a young adult is trying to become themselves, the window no other profession has properly claimed.

He has worked with young adults facing failure to launch, severe anxiety, depression, high-functioning autism and Asperger’s, addiction, bipolar disorder, and the particular despair of having no idea what they are made for. Most of them had already been through therapy. What they had not had was someone who worked across everything at once, named what was actually happening, and stayed with them until it changed.

The first step is a free 15-minute consultation. You describe your situation. Ken listens. He will tell you honestly whether this is a fit and what working together would look like. No pressure. No script. Just a real conversation about your child, with someone who has had this conversation hundreds of times and has never stopped believing in the person on the other end of it.
